Would American Witnesses Really Die For Their Beliefs?
by Dune inback in march 2002, right after 9/11, a few elders took me and some other congregation youth to a march madness game.
as with any american sport, the national anthem is played before the game starts.
growing up, i've been to school pep rallies, assemblies, games and i never stood up for any of the anthems/pledges (nothing ever happened, my friends just called me a 'commie'), so i was suprised when the elder gets up, leans over and says that i should probably stand up, which i did.

Many do, some wont, thats the fact of the matter and a sad one.
Its been estimated that @ 100 JWS die needlessly every year due mostly to not taking a blood transfusion.
There are many of these medical situations that do not make it to the media around the world.
Even more dismaying is parents are with holding BT from their sick children causing them to parish.
And no the parents have made that choice not the children, contrary to what the WTS. has proclaimed.

The Grand Poobahs' lifestyles in Brooklyn?
by lavendar ini was just thinking today about all the hard-working, gotta-make-it-to-paradise jws.
how the organization has made millions on the backs of these people who think they're serving the true god.
then i got curious.....do the big boys of brooklyn live lavish lifestyles?

Lets just say they know who and for what reason they are being looked after by the WTS..
The GB members obviously get a privileged status at HQ. , they are far and away from doing any of the grunt work in the printing plants.
You can also bet their offices are clean quiet and air conditioned after all they are the executive editors and
marketing executives of the entire organization.
After the Rutherford scam of him using WTS money to build the two luxury homes in San Diego, management most likely
took it upon themselves to make sure that never happened again.

If there were to be anything that would eventually dismantle the organization it would most likely be The End that simply never came
and the total sum of all their misguided prophecies that can be seen and confirmed.
But since they carry such strong mental indoctrination with its followers my guess is they would do their very best to
juggling bible scripture to meet their agenda, and we know how many times they've done that.
Fear is the working catalyst that has created their power and maintained it for these many years.

Article: The Atheist's Dilemma
by BurnTheShips incampos: the atheist's dilemmaby paul camposwhy is stanley fish so much smarter than richard dawkins?
that question occurred to me last week, while attending a lecture at which fish, the well-known literary and legal theorist, did the thing he always does, which is to make the following point over and over again:.
"no believer will find his faith shaken by evidence that is evidence only in the light of assumptions he does not share and considers flatly wrong.".

Well said Dave, and I'd just like to add that the JWS have most certainly have orchestrated insidious methods to control people
and use them to create wealth and power.
Some of their controls might even be considered useful and purposeful , on the other hand some have proved to be disastrous and even fatal.
Power should never be in the hands of the ignorant, the results have always proven to be wrong and unjust.

Double standards
by behemot indid you ever notice how double standard leads jws life?.
if someone whos joining the jws gets shunned by his family/friends, thats persecution, if a jw who joins another religion (or does anything outside the rules) gets the same treatment thats loving discipline.. if they are invited to another religions ceremony they wont go, viewing their participation as sharing in false worship; yet at the same time they keep on inviting members of other faiths to share in their own celebrations (memorial) and expect them to show up and participate.. they fight worldwide, even in courts, for freedom of speech, yet they dont grant such freedom to their own members.. they encourage people to question and closely scrutinize their beliefs; but they are discouraged to do the same themselves.. they expect people to read and study their publications; yet they wont touch other faiths literature with a stick for fear of getting polluted.. other examples?.

The truth is only the truth if it comes from them only, its always been a self serving agenda with them that creates support and keeps it
in place. Double standards, hypocrisy, power, corruption its all there.
Thats the true face of religion once its viewed at all angles.

Question about Prodigal Son parable
by tsar_robles inwell, after much thought put into it i decided to send a letter requesting reinstatement.
i met with the jc and tried to reason with them on the prodigal son parable... how the father in this parable did not put his son through a waiting or probationary period, etc but rather embraced him on the spot... their answer was that the 'walk' to his father's home represents meeting attendance... in other words, the 'works' that befit repentance... any ideas???.
i reminded them that in the last 3 years i've attempted to attend the meetings and yet the anxiety that developed brought me tangible unknown illnesses and symptoms that were unbearable and thus had to stop attending... i was told that i had to find a way to make meetings though; that i'd not die because of that.... i was asked how long did i attend meetings in my last attempt and i said about 4 months... "well, that's about 48 meetings... so say you went to 30 meetings..." i said: "no, i hardly missed any meetings and when i did i made sure the p.0.

i have been outed pretty badly as an evil apostate.......BEWARE!!!
by oompa inand in a kinda funny way........this friend of mine.......who is very close friend of my df'd son and is much younger than me.....he has been dfd for ten years and shunned by his family and really reall misses them......and has been in a longterm gay relationship and i always felt bad for him because there is almost no way to come back in...then fade...if you are in a gay relationship.......so anyway he has heard me trashtalk wt a ton...and seemed to have zero problem with that and griped about his wt issues...... so i call him the other day and immediately respond with some comment about the damm cult.......we he says," wow oompa you prob don't know but i am going to all the meetings again!!
so i am just snap....."wow, that is amazing...i had no idea....are you just going back for family...and then try to fade?
" which is what i just knew had to be the case....and i even mentioned how that would be hard to do with his partner all it would be discovered.......get this....."oompa, i am doing this for me and not my family......they don't even know i am going so don't say anything"........so i am in shock and the more we talk the happier he sounds about da troof....and i mean he is like filled with the holy ghost......so i mentioned how many things we have talked about that they teach that we both dissagree about.......and he says he know they prob have some things wrong but all religions do.

The biggest problem that can be said about you and your passed acquaintance Oompa, is you have a stronger intellect and
a truer understanding of whats going on.
I personally wouldn't get close and confining to a person such as a character like that, most likely all of the cumulatively
dirty things he's done as caught up to his conscience and now he's looking out for some righteous redemption.

Mom says "You will die at Armageddon" - good replies?
by serendipity inmy mother retired from her full-time job recently and has started attending meetings again.
she also has plenty of time to think about her wayward children, including me.
one night, we were talking and she asked me, again, why i wasn't going to meetings.

The marketability of Armageddon and its fearful destruction for which it portrays is everywhere even in the movies as astute businessmen
like C.T.Russell , Joseph Rutherford and the modern JWS today acknowledge that.
There are other individuals who are cashing in on it too like Jack Van Impe, Harold Camping, Herbert W. Armstrong .....etc.
I suppose as long as there are people that have the potential to believe in this sort of stuff it will
it will always have its commercial appeal. $$$
